Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 25, 2026
Totally Not Fun Games is a browser-based party-game platform operated by HAWC Consulting LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we handle when you visit the site or play games, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account, only if you host. Guests never sign in — joining a room never asks for anything but a display name. Hosting a room requires an email address, verified with a one-time code that expires after 10 minutes. We store that address (in a canonical form) and the date the account was created; we never ask for your real name, and we never see or store your card number — payment for anything paid runs through Stripe's own checkout page, not ours.
- Gameplay data. When you join a game room you choose a display name and a color. These live in our game server's memory only for the duration of the room and are deleted when the room closes.
- Local storage. Your browser stores a small identifier (your last room code and player ID, and on the host screen a room-resume token) so a page refresh can reconnect you to your game. This never leaves your device except to rejoin your room, and you can clear it any time by clearing your browser's site data.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage (pages visited, approximate region, device type). Google Analytics sets cookies and collects data as described in Google's Privacy Policy.
- Advertising. Pages may include Google AdSense advertisements. Ad providers may set cookies and use device identifiers to serve and measure ads, including (where permitted) personalized ads. See how Google uses advertising cookies. You can manage ad personalization at Google Ads Settings.
- Server logs. Like nearly all websites, our servers keep short-lived technical logs (IP address, request time, user agent) for security and debugging. Logs rotate automatically.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal information.
- We don't ask for or store passwords, contacts, photos, or precise location.
- Marketing email only ever goes to hosts who opted in when they created an account. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
Cookies
This site sets one cookie of its own: pl_session, a strictly necessary first-party cookie that keeps a host signed in for up to 90 days. It exists only to identify your account on our server — it carries no advertising or tracking purpose. The rest come from Google Analytics and Google AdSense as described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the games themselves work fine without them — a host who blocks pl_session will just need to sign in again each visit.
Children
The platform is designed for general audiences playing together in the same room. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Display names are chosen by players and visible only to others in the same game room.
Data retention
Game rooms and everything in them (names, colors, scores) are held in memory only and are destroyed when the room closes or expires. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention settings. If you host, your account (your email address and account metadata) is kept for as long as the account stays open. Closing your account stops it from being used immediately, and the underlying record is permanently deleted 30 days later.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Because we hold essentially none, the fastest path is usually clearing your browser's cookies and site data. For anything else, contact us below.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
